Description
The repeating, ascending pinnacles of downtown Houston's Bank of America building (originally the Republic Bank Center when completed in 1983) are shown here in stark contrast to the dark windows and slim vertical slot of Pennzoil Place beyond. Both buildings were designed by Johnson/Burgee Architects. Pennzoil Place was a significant architectural trendsetter when completed in 1976, unleashing modern skyscraper design from the typical rectangular box that had defined it for years.
